Pakistan has maintained an undefeated record against Sri Lanka in the men’s ODI World Cup.
Abdullah Shafique in for Fakhar
Dasun Shanaka won the toss and chose to bat first against Pakistan. There is one change for each team. Abdullah Shafique replaces Fakhar Zaman. Mahesh Theekshana replaces Kasun Rajitha.
Imam dropped an easy catch, and don’t even mention catching in the slips. Imam ul Haq not only dropped Mendis but also did not play in the opener position. It’s frustrating; there are discussions about making podcasts regarding his and his family’s mental health. Will anyone address how his inclusion in the team has affected the mental well-being of us, Pakistani fans?
Virgin Shaheen Afridi was exceptional
Shaheen is trying too hard. His line is way off, and his pace is at least 10km too slow. The notion that Pakistani cricketers’ performance declines after marriage is a subject of discussion.
I really like Shaheen Shah Afridi, but I am noticing that his speed is decreasing. I feel like he might have been injured again and is forcefully playing in the World Cup. Waqar Younis
Spinner’s Role
Babar’s captaincy seems defensive. There’s no slip for the spinner in the first overs. Shadab needs to pitch the ball fuller. He’s been cut for boundaries enough times by the Sri Lankan batters. Even the delivery on which he got Nissanka out was one that could have been cut away for four. Question marks over Shadab Khan’s performance, Pakistan needs a good spinner, analysis by former captain Salman Butt.
Hassan Ali takes Three
Kushal Mendis’ explosive innings have come to a close. He amassed an impressive total of 14 boundaries and 6 sixes, achieving a remarkable strike rate of 158. This World Cup represents Hassan Ali’s redemption arc.
Views on Rauf and Shaheen’s bowling
At the moment, watching this cricket team feels like a complete waste of time. You end up feeling guilty for spending even a minute of your day watching these players who seem to lack intent, energy, or technique! We welcome Haris Rauf to Dinda Academy.
Missing Naseem as well! Naseem Shah versus Kushal Mendis in white-ball cricket: two balls, two dismissals, both clean bowled! He is on a personal hat-trick!
Rizwan misses an easy run out again!
The bowlers have made a huge comeback in the last 20 overs, showing incredible skills in death bowling. However, it might be a bit too late.
The showdown between the Pakistani pacers and the Sri Lankan spinners
This World Cup will be characterized by batters with sound technical skills and strong temperament scoring substantial runs, ultimately becoming the decisive factors in matches. It’s a testament to proper ODI cricket!
Easy Win if We Bat Twice
Pakistan has never chased 265+ scores in a WC match while Sri Lanka has never defeated Pakistan in a ODI World Cup match. One of these statements will become null after today’s match.
Pakistan needs to limit Sri Lanka to a score below 330 if they want to have a chance at winning. Otherwise, it’s going to be very challenging. But being optimistic: No matter how much Sri Lanka scores, Pakistan will win comfortably, don’t forget the dew factor, mate. Dew is definitely going to play a role.
Imam Ul Haq
Imam scored a century against Bangladesh in a meaningless match in 2019. He has never won any important matches.
Abdullah Shafique
Abdullah from Sialkot is going to unleash some serious power today. He’s going to provide the strong start Pakistan needs.
Parchi Babar Azam
Mediocre Babar goes out too soon. Might leave his captaincy during the tournament. Poor batting approach. Playing timidly and not putting pressure on the bowlers. It’s a strange and subpar approach. Just make him act in ads, he was hitting sixes blindfolded in every ball, but here he can’t bat at all even with protective eyewear.
5 against Netherlands, 10 against Sri Lanka. The World No. 1 ODI batter has struggled to find form in the tournament so far… Could a big hundred from Babar Azam be on the horizon against India?
Muhammad Rizwan
Nowadays, you blink and Rizwan is already at the crease. Babar Azam, what have you done!!!
Abdullah Shafique and Mohammad Rizwan with a hundred. A phenomenal performance from Pakistan to achieve a record-breaking run-chase against Sri Lanka. This is the BIGGEST successful run chase EVER in World Cup HISTORY!!! Thank you for giving us a reason to celebrate, Team Pakistan. We must applaud Sri Lanka for their effort in putting an exciting score on the board, and what a chase.
The support for the Pakistan Cricket team at the Hyderabad Cricket Stadium was extraordinary. Chants of ‘Jitega Bhai Jitega – Pakistan Jitega’ and the echoes of ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ filled the stadium. Every run was cheered as if Pakistan was playing at Qaddafi Stadium or National Stadium, not Hyderabad Cricket Stadium.
It felt like a home match for us. Muhammad Rizwan
Thank you, Hyderabad, for your incredible hospitality and unwavering support. Pakistan will always cherish this memory!
