The Bigger Pattern No One Wants to Acknowledge
This is not an isolated incident.
From:
-
athletes facing visa hurdles based on background,
-
international players raising safety and conduct concerns,
-
pollution repeatedly affecting performance,
to now:
-
bird droppings halting a world-tour match,
the issue is not perception. It is standards enforcement.
Global sport is not charity. Hosting rights are not entitlements. They are responsibilities.
If the Bare Minimum Can’t Be Met, Stop Bidding
This is the uncomfortable but necessary conclusion:
If basic hygiene, air quality, athlete safety, and dignity cannot be guaranteed, stop bidding for global events until they can.
Not temporarily. Not cosmetically. Structurally.
Sports deserve better.
Athletes deserve better.
And credibility is earned only when excuses stop.
