A photograph with Sam Altman became a headline about Pakistan’s AI future before anyone showed Pakistan what the conversation produced. That is the part worth interrogating. On 24 September, Minister of State Bilal Bin Saqib posted that it was “great meeting” Altman at the United Nations and said they discussed Pakistani talent, energy capacity and digital scale. The image establishes that the two stood together for a photograph. It cannot establish whether their exchange lasted seconds or an hour, what Altman said, or whether OpenAI agreed to do anything. x.com
