India has spent years presenting scale models, artistic concepts and future requirements as evidence of an approaching unmanned revolution. Pakistan’s newer disclosures disturb that comfortable narrative because Islamabad is no longer showing one isolated tactical drone; its defence ecosystem is beginning to reveal a layered family spanning long-range piston-powered strike aircraft, arrow-delta loitering munitions, high-speed jet-powered anti-radiation systems, swarming weapons and counter-drone integration.
But Pakistan must resist its own temptation to turn brochures into battalions.
The evidence supports a strong conclusion, though not the exaggerated one circulating across social media: Pakistan presently appears to be pursuing a more operationally focused and diversified one-way-attack-drone portfolio, while India retains greater industrial scale, a broader conventional UAV programme and more procurement depth. Pakistan’s advantage is visible in the clarity of its emerging mission architecture; India’s advantage lies in resources, institutional breadth and its ability to place substantial orders. Neither country has publicly proven every capability being claimed.
That distinction matters because a model can demonstrate aerodynamic intent, a displayed airframe can demonstrate fabrication, and a flight-test announcement can demonstrate development activity—but only repeated trials, serial production, unit induction and operational employment demonstrate military capability.
What Pakistan Has Actually Revealed
Heavy Industries Taxila presented the D-248 and S-369 during the 2026 Indus Robotics and Autonomous Systems Expo. Photographs of their display boards provide unusually specific performance figures, while independent defence reporting records the same published values.
The D-248 is described as a tailless delta-wing loitering munition with a 3.3-metre wingspan, approximately 240-kilogram maximum take-off weight, a 30–50-kilogram payload, 185 km/h cruising speed, 225 km/h maximum speed, a ceiling of 4,500 metres and 12–14 hours of endurance. Its most consequential advertised figure is an operational range of 2,200–3,000 kilometres. The S-369 follows an arrow-delta arrangement and is advertised with a four-metre wingspan, 215–225-kilogram maximum take-off weight, the same 30–50-kilogram payload class, 160–180 km/h cruising speed, 220 km/h maximum speed and a 1,500–2,000-kilometre operating range. These figures are corroborated by the display material and summarised by Quwa’s reporting on the HIT systems.

The specification table is not a certificate of combat performance. It is evidence of what Pakistani manufacturers say they are designing, testing or offering. Nevertheless, that evidence cannot honestly be dismissed as “Chinese toys” merely because social-media accounts dislike Pakistan. Defence technology does not become imaginary simply because its manufacturer is Pakistani, just as it does not become operational merely because a brochure prints an impressive range.
