From Humble Beginnings: Unearthing the First Offices of Dell, Disney, Facebook, and Others

Dell: Before: Dell’s initial operations took place in Michael Dell’s dorm room at the University of Texas at Austin in 1984. He started the company with the concept of selling directly to customers, bypassing traditional retail channels.

Now: Dell’s headquarters is located in Round Rock, Texas. The sprawling complex houses various departments and plays a crucial role in Dell’s position as a leading technology company.

Disney: Before: The beginnings of Disney can be traced to a small office space in the rear of a real estate office on Kingswell Avenue in Los Angeles. In 1923, Walt Disney and his brother Roy O. Disney founded the Disney Brothers Studio, which later became the Walt Disney Studio.

Now: Disney’s headquarters, known as the Team Disney Building, is situated in Burbank, California. The campus houses various divisions of the company, including Walt Disney Studios, Disney Television Animation, and more.

Facebook: Before: Mark Zuckerberg famously started Facebook in his Harvard University dormitory room in 2004. It began as a social networking platform exclusively for Harvard students before expanding to other universities.

Now: Facebook’s headquarters, known as the Facebook Menlo Park Campus, is located in Menlo Park, California. The campus is a sprawling complex with several buildings and serves as the central hub for Facebook’s operations.
