MRO means Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul. Such facilities perform scheduled inspections, repairs, component work and heavier maintenance needed to keep aircraft airworthy.
Is Airblue’s Islamabad hangar already EASA-approved?
Current reporting describes Airblue’s hangar as being constructed according to EASA standards. Formal EASA approval should not be assumed until the relevant authority grants and publishes it.
Will the facility save foreign exchange?
It can reduce payments for overseas maintenance, crew training, ferry flights and prolonged foreign parking. Imported aircraft parts and specialist services may still require foreign currency.
