It would be analytically lazy to reduce an entire country’s AI trajectory to one private university’s misstep. India’s tech ecosystem includes credible startups such as Sarvam AI and multiple enterprise AI integrators working on applied systems. The country remains a global software talent powerhouse. Its IT export revenues exceed the GDP of several mid-sized economies.

But leadership narratives require consistency between claim and capability.

The Galgotias episode is not catastrophic. It is instructive. It demonstrates the gap between ambition and validation.
