Early Thursday, the Counter‑Terrorism Department (CTD) of Swat in coordination with district police launched an intelligence‑driven operation in the Sakha Dob area of the district. The target was a small stone‑built structure near the villages of Segram and Lalu Banda where three militants, identified as Abdullah, Mansoor Ali and Ghufranullah, had taken position. All three were residents of Swat and were linked to TTP commander Muzaffar, also known as Khalid.
According to an official post by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police on X (formerly Twitter), the engagement began when the suspects opened fire from the stone enclosure. Police returned fire, resulting in a brief but intense gun battle. The operation concluded with the death of the three militants and the seizure of three Kalashnikov rifles, six magazines and additional ammunition. The police account explicitly listed the recovered weapons: “03 Kalashnikovs, 06 magazines & several rounds were recovered.” No casualties were reported among the security forces.
The trending X story that first circulated the headline “Police Kill Three TTP Terrorists in Swat Gun Battle” echoed the same details. Its summary noted that the suspects fired first, prompting the firefight, and that police also recovered a gas cylinder, a map and a diary that authorities said were tied to recent attacks in the region. While the story’s metadata labeled the content as “unverified,” the police’s own X post carries the weight of an official statement and contains no disclaimer.
