Indian Failure: No Opening Ceremony Cricket World Cup 2023

Cricket World Cup 2023 Opening Ceremony preparations are underway at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. A grand opening ceremony awaits us or shall it be a collapse?

Cricket World Cup in India 2023

It’s undeniably the most disappointing start to a mega-event like the Cricket World Cup. Even countries like England and Australia managed to create a more electrifying atmosphere in previous editions, despite cricket not being their primary sport. The last-minute cancellation of the opening ceremony, schedule changes, visa problems, and fans complaining about unclean stands… it’s all contributing to a lackluster buildup.

There’s a distinct absence of genuine excitement, and it almost feels like tomorrow’s match between England and New Zealand is just another run-of-the-mill game. When an Australian journalist raised this concern, Rohit conveniently sidestepped the issue and changed the subject.

It appears that the BCCI’s main focus is on ticket revenue, with little interest in investing in the celebration of this grand event. This is especially unjust to the passionate Indian public, who hold such a deep love for the game. Unfortunately, this enthusiasm isn’t being reflected in the way it should, especially when India is hosting a full-fledged ODI World Cup for the very first time!

Cricket World Cup 2023 Opening Ceremony Preparations

No matter how wealthy the BCCI is, they can never organize an opening ceremony as spectacular as the one conducted by the ECB. That was truly epic. Can the BCCI surpass that?

Security is a concern, especially because Pakistani players are involved. If something were to happen openly, it could lead to unwanted ripple effects and tarnish the event. So, it’s better to err on the side of caution.

Doing this on an open road in India is just not feasible. Firstly, due to the high population density, and secondly, the immense craze for cricket. Therefore, it’s a prudent decision to make it a closed event and not allow public entry. Also, to organize such ceremonies, it is necessary for the people of the country to be well-mannered.

NO OPENING CEREMONY for ICC Cricket World Cup 2023

The BCCI seems to lack original ideas of its own, nor does it seem inclined to borrow from others. It appears they couldn’t care less. Ranveer Singh, Shankar Mahadevan, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Varun Dhawan, Asha Bhosle, and Tamannah Bhatia are likely to perform at the opening ceremony of the World Cup 2023.

The one who couldn’t come up with a good anthem, what kind of ceremony will they conduct? They canceled the giant opening ceremony celebrations because they wanted to hold a special ceremony for the India-Pakistan game. Anil Patel, Secretary of Gujarat Cricket Association, said there was no opening ceremony going to happen.

Anyway, it is not going to be the best opening ceremony in Cricket World Cup history just a ceremonial bit.

This was the most expensive Opening Ceremony in the history of the Cricket World Cup. The cost for the opening ceremony of the 2011 World Cup was $30 million, and it was organized by the BCCI. What has happened to them is Jay Shah!

  1. Schedules delayed
  2. Grounds in unclean state
  3. No opening ceremony
  4. Inadequate scheduling with frequent changes
  5. Hosting well below par…

Nowhere near the standards set in 2015 and ’19! Overall during the World Cup, I’m concerned about the stubble burning in Punjab, which could potentially impact matches in Northern India, particularly in Delhi.

During a press conference ahead of their match against the Netherlands tomorrow, New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips faced a power failure. However, the press conference continued using the flashlight on mobile phones. Talk about the wealthiest cricket board!
