Did Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan write the Lahore Resolution?
He influenced the constitutional discussions and is associated with an earlier scheme, but A. K. Fazlul Huq formally moved the Lahore Resolution at the League’s Lahore session. Sikandar’s preferred arrangement was more decentralised than the state that appeared in 1947. Calling him either irrelevant or the sole author would overstate the evidence.
Were Urdu-speaking Muslims central to the Pakistan Movement?
Yes. Jinnah, Liaquat, Chundrigar, leaders from Muslim-minority provinces and Aligarh-linked networks were central to its leadership and organisation. “Central,” however, does not mean “exclusive.”
Did Punjabis support Pakistan?
Punjab’s political establishment was divided, but the 1946 election provided decisive evidence that an overwhelming majority of Muslim seats in the province had moved to the Muslim League. It is inaccurate to convert Unionist-League rivalry into a timeless verdict against Punjabis.
